Burnis Irene (Hoffman) Brothers

Burnis Irene (Hoffman) Brothers, 93, formerly of Poplar Bluff, passed away Thursday January 15, 2015, at Willow Care Center in Willow Springs, MO.
Mrs. Brothers was born April 25, 1921 in Rombauer, MO to the late John and Estie Sinks Hoffman.
In August of 1941, she and Charles W. Brothers were married in Poplar Bluff. He preceded her in death on July 17, 1999.
While she lived in Poplar Bluff, she was a homemaker and attended South Poplar Bluff General Baptist Church, where she was a member. She enjoyed spending time with her family, was an avid quilter and loved embroidery work. Over the past ten years she donated over 120 hand-embroidered pillow cases to Shriner's Hospitals for Children in St. Louis, MO.
Survivors include her children: Charles E. Brothers (Judy) of Willow Springs and Dorothy Cassidy of St. Louis; three grandchildren: Karen Sharp (Rick) of St. Louis, MO, Twila Bennett (Dan) of Rockford, MI, and Tonya Papenfus (Greg) of St. Louis, MI: five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Lindel and Sharon Brothers of Valparaiso, IN.
Visitation will be at South Poplar Bluff General Baptist Church Monday, January 26, 2015, beginning at 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Ash Hill Cemetery, with Rev. Keith Luke officiating.
