Bobby Duane Jenkins, age 84, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his three children Shawn Jenkins, Debra Jenkins, and Robert Jenkins on the evening of September 3rd, 2023.
Bobby was a 1958 Graduate of Poplar Bluff High School where he played football serving as one of the captains for the that season. The Mules 1957 record of 9-1 is still one of best seasons in school history led by his coach and later friend Clarence "Dutch" Wyatt.
He went on to retire from the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers as a member of Local 27 out of St. Louis.
When he was not working Bobby loved spending time with his friends. He also enjoyed being outside and would always be known to fire up the grill for steaks on a nice summer day. When inside he could always be found watching sports or a classic Western movie.
In his golden years he always had his beloved dog Susie by his side until her passing earlier this year in March.
Bobby is survived by three children Shawn Jenkins, Debra Jenkins of Poplar Bluff, MO and Robert Jenkins of Cooper City, FL: Two grandchildren Sammy Jenkins and Jenny Jenkins of Florida. Bobby also leaves behind two sisters Melva Taylor of Statesboro, GA and Sandi (Ron) Webster of Lubbock, TX as well as a brother Dean Jenkins of Granville, OH.
He was proceeded in death by parents Glenn D. Jenkins and Winifred M. (Romine) Jenkins and sisters Glenda Unsell and Hazel Wyatt.
According to his wishes Bobby was cremated. The family will have a private family burial later.
In lieu of flowers feel free to donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Alzheimer's Association.
