Billy Franklin Rogers

Billy Franklin Rogers, 78, of Poplar Bluff, died Monday, June 5, 2006 at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center, in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Rogers was born April 18, 1928, in Altus, Okla. to the late Benjamin Franklin and Minnie Rogers. He retired in 1990 as a heavy equipment operator, in Chicago Heights, Ill. Mr. Rogers was a member of the Grand Avenue Baptist Church, in Poplar Bluff and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He enjoyed gardening and fishing.
On April 2, 1955, he married Mildred Lorine Nimon. She preceded him in death on May 26, 1999.
Survivors include three daughters, Julia Halley, of Nashville, Tenn., Laurie Moran, of Chicago and Laura Ann Castro, of Gary, Ind.; five sons, Johnny F. Rogers, Mark Rogers, Daniel Rogers and Jesse Rogers, all of Poplar Bluff and Billy W. Rogers, of Little Rock, Ark.; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lydia Bell Worley and Delores Rogers; and a brother, Dale Rogers.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Grand Avenue Baptist Church, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. Roy Davis officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at the New Oak Hill Cemetery, in Butler County.
