Betty Jean Robertson (nee Sanders), 86, of Barnhart, MO, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Saturday, February 22, 2025.
Betty was born on December 26, 1938, to John and Elizabeth (Elder) Sanders in Phoenix, Arizona. The family moved to California, Arkansas, and Michigan, before finally settling in Poplar Bluff in 1949. She met her husband, Don Robertson a few years later and they married on November 30, 1956, also in Poplar Bluff.
The Robertson's lived in the St. Louis Metro area for forty years, returning to Poplar Bluff after retirement in 2001. In November of 2023, they returned to Barnhart to live closer to their daughter.
In their younger years, Betty and Don enjoyed roller skating and bowling. Later their hobbies included bicycling and camping with their children. They made an annual camping trip to the DuQuoin State Fair; a tradition lasting over 50 years. A dedicated mother, Betty, was involved with all her children’s activities; being sure never to miss a concert or school program and even serving as a Girl Scout Leader.
Betty was an avid seamstress and crafter, collector of bells and "The Right Shoe" novelties. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. Betty was also a talented musician, playing piano by ear. From the age of 13 she routinely served as an accompanist at church for the rest of her life.
Betty was an active and engaged grandmother. When spending time with the grandkids, she was always sure to fill the schedule with activities, outings, and trips, making as many memories as possible.
Betty is survived by her husband of 68 years, Don Robertson; son, Rev. Greg (Elaine) Robertson; daughter, Denise (Garry) Hasty; sister, Evelyn (Larry) McCallister; four grandchildren, Derek (Matthew Bialko) Robertson, Amy Hall, Garryn (David) Marlen, and Rachel (Caleb) Bunch; along with four great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lois Schenewerk and brother, John Sanders Jr.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 10:00a-12:00p at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services. Funeral service will follow beginning at noon with Pastor Steve Patterson officiating. Burial will take place at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
