Betty Jo Klein

Betty Jo Klein, 87, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Betty was born Dec. 20, 1935, in Gideon, Missouri to Joe and Sylvia (Potter) Brooks. She was of the Pentecostal faith and retired from Florsheim Shoe Company. Betty also was a 43-year member of Poplar Bluff Eagles Lodge 3730, where she served as past President. She enjoyed karaoke, fishing, playing bingo, watching westerns on TV, and watching hummingbirds outside her window. Betty was also an avid St. Louis Cardinal’s fan. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

She is survived by her five children, Regina (Marvin) Hinton, Elaine Carrera, Phyllis Kennedy (JB David Bruce), Sylvia Ann Greeder and Willard Preston (Cynthia) Klein, Jr.; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother William Joseph ‘Dub’ Brooks.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Willard Preston Klein, Sr., a brother Larry Brooks, her granddaughter Tennie Jo Hopkins, and a son-in-law Felix Ray Carrera.

A visitation will begin at 4 pm Tuesday, July 26, 2023, at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff, with a Celebration of Life following at 5 pm. A private family burial will be held later.
