December 20, 1937 — February 7, 2025

Poplar Bluff

Louise Ste. Croix, 87, of Poplar Bluff, MO, passed away on February 7, 2025, at Cedargate Healthcare Center. She was born on December 20, 1937, in Poplar Bluff to the late Houston and Laura Chatman.

Louise had a deep love for learning and earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of North Florida. She enjoyed a long and successful career as a tax professional, where her sharp mind and passion for numbers made her an invaluable resource to many. Throughout her life, Louise also lived in Texas, California, Maine, Florida, and even Naples, Italy, embracing adventure and new experiences wherever she went. She loved reading, crafting, playing the piano, and cherished quality time with family and friends. One of her greatest joys was traveling across the U.S. to nearly every state by RV with her beloved husband, Lucien Ste. Croix, whom she married on April 30, 1978. Together, they created a lifetime of memories on the road, exploring the country, side-by-side. Louise was a devoted mother and stepmother.

Louise had a quiet steady faith that guided her throughout her life. She was a longstanding member of Twin Springs Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Lucien Ste. Croix, daughter, Deborah Crider, stepdaughter, Pam Ste. Croix, and stepsons, Kevin and Robert (Michelle) Ste. Croix. She also leaves behind a very special son-in-law, Glenn Nicholson, granddaughter Vanessa (Michael) Viehe-Beitler, step-grandchildren Amy Ruiz, Danielle Macks, Megan Dailey, and Ricky, Amanda, Noah, Nicholas and Alyssa Ste. Croix as well as numerous great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving siblings: Laverne Clark, Donna (Ron) Hatley, Carolyn Borton, and Jerry (Regina) Chatman.

Also, preceding her in death are her son, Michael Crider, stepdaughter, Michelle Nicholson, and sister, Wilma Fowler.

Louise’s kindness, intelligence, and adventurous spirit touched the lives of many. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. A service to honor and celebrate Louise’s life will be held Monday, February 17, 2025, at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services in Poplar Bluff, MO with Pastor Roger Mayo officiating.
