Bertha K. Gaebler

Bertha K. Gaebler, 99, of Poplar Bluff, died Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Mark Twain Caring Center.

Mrs. Gaebler was born October 24, 1908, in Hamel, Ill. to the late Adolph and Minnie (Kroeger) Lueker. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, and former member of LWML. Mrs. Gaebler was a homemaker, and enjoyed quilting, gardening and flowers She was also a member of JOY Club, Quilters Group and a long time member of the East Highway Community Club.

On November 29, 1928, she married Herbert T. Gaebler in Parma, Mo. He preceded her in death on April 17, 1968.

Surviving are two daughters, Irene Hamm and husband Don of Poplar Bluff, Erma Berg of Grafton, Wis., and one son, Dale Gaebler and wife Wanda of Poplar Bluff; nine grandchildren, Pam Barnhill of Plano, Tex., Brenda Moore of Sikeston, Steve Hamm of Springfield, Carol Rinke of Grafton, Wis., Linda Ball of Phoenix, Ariz., Vickie Alioto of Grafton, Wis., Jan Azinger of Elkhorn, Wis., Tim Gaebler and Anita Cates of Poplar Bluff; 22 great grandchildren and 6 great great-grandchildren; a sister, Laura Varner of Springfield, Va.; and a brother, Karl Lueker of Cape Girardeau.

Mrs. Gaebler was also preceded in death by a son, Arnold Gaebler, brother, Wilbert Lueker, sister, Elvera Holtzen and grandson, Michael Hamm.

Visitation will be from 5 - 7 p.m. Monday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church, 450 No. Main St., in Poplar Bluff with Pastor Marty Reed officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn section of the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
