Barbara Worley Hammon, 72, of Poplar Bluff, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006 at her residence.
Mrs. Hammon was born April 24, 1934, in Poplar Bluff. She was a member of New Home General Baptist Church, where she served as a ladies aide and a retired clerk for Target Department Stores. Mrs. Hammon enjoyed crocheting and was an avid quilter and seamstress as well.
On Feb. 6, 1954, she married John T. Hammon, Jr., in St. Louis. He survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Brenda Kay Childers, of Herrin, Ill., Pamela Sue Mutchek, of West Frankford, Ill., and Connie Lynn Kerr, of Olive Branch, Ill.; a son, John Gorman Hammon, of Villa Ridge, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; a sister, Gretta Sue Dodd, of Poplar Bluff; and two brothers, George Worley, of Poplar Bluff and James (Jay) L. Worley, of Wood River, Ill.
The visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Cotrell Funeral chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 a.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Ralph Mayes officiating. Burial will be at the Old McGee Cemetery, in Wayne County.
