Ava J. Langley

Ava J. Langley, 80, of Poplar Bluff, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006 at the Cedargate Care Center, in Poplar Bluff.

Mrs. Langley, the daughter of the late Edward and Blanche (Polsgrove) Henderson, was born July 18, 1926 at St. Francis, AR. The retired owner-operator and baker of the Donut House, in Poplar Bluff, Mrs. Langley was a member of the First Baptist Church where she was a volunteer at the Christian Life Center. She was a member of the Altrusa Club for many years in Poplar Bluff.

On July 13, 1945, she married Andrew J. Langley, in San Diego, CA. He preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 2005.

Survivors include four sons, Jack Langley and wife Debby, of Columbia, Norman Langley and wife Linda, of Ava, NY, Byron Langley and wife Susan, of El Dorado, AR, and Michael Joe Langley and wife Julia, of Winfield, KS; six grandchildren, Lynn Ann Talkington, Bruce Langley, Christina Hemeyer, Jason Langley, Hannah Langley and Cinnamon Langley, four great-grandchildren, Tyler Talkington, Brooke Langley, Gabryel Langley and Bethanny Langley; three sisters, Dolis Smith of Springfield, MO, Mildred Storey of Dexter, MO, and Lois Hollingsworth of Spanish Fort, AL. Two brothers, Ed Henderson and H.R. Henderson preceded Mrs. Langley in death.

The visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church, with Dr. William Vail officiating. Burial will be at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in Poplar Bluff.
