Alta Christine Polk

Alta Christine Polk, 85, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Poplar Bluff died Monday, May 26, 2008 at St. Francis Medical Center, in Cape Girardeau.

Mrs. Polk was born July 27, 1922, in Hilliard, Mo. She was of the Baptist faith, and had retired from the Lucy Lee Hospital cafeteria. Mrs. Polk was an avid St. Louis Cardinal's fan, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and sewing.

In Oct. 1960, she was married to Samuel E. Polk. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include her son, Adrian Bratcher and wife Anna, of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren, Denny Bratcher, Terri Bratcher Zvirgzdins, Paul Bratcher, Karl Bratcher and Kimberly Bratcher Love; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Burnis Brothers, of Willow Springs, Mo.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Polk was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Estie Susan (Sinks) Hoffman, and son, Larry Dennis Bratcher.

Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Friday at Cotrell Funeral Chapel, in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Brian Sharp officiating. Burial will be at Ash Hill Cemetery, Butler County.
