Alma Lenore Hendrix, 79, of Poplar Bluff, died January 19, 2007 at her residence. Ms Hendrix was born May 25, 1927 in Corning, Ark. to the late Everett Gladstone and Mary Elizabeth (Bounds) Dickison.
An orthopedic nurse, Ms. Hendrix retired in 1994. She graduated in 1944 as salutorian of her class and then attended Missouri Baptist School of Nursing. During WWII she was a member of the Cadet Nursing Corps. She attended the Fellowship General Baptist Church and loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed reading, crocheting, fishing and traveling.
Surviving are 5 children, Susan Brown and husband Darrell of St. Charles; Wanda Rae Shewmon of Poplar Bluff; Jim Hendrix and wife Melissa of Houston, Mo.; Mary Beth Gallamore of West Plains; and Jama McAllister of Poplar Bluff; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 1 brother, Loren W. Dickison and wife Norma of El Paso, Tex.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., Monday, Jan. 22, 2007 at Cotrell Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Terry Gallamore officiating. Burial will be in the City Cemetery.
