Alice June Calkins

Alice June Calkins, 87, of Poplar Bluff, MO passed away on November 06, 2023, at The Manor in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Alice was born on May 25, 1936, to Samuel W. Calkins and Rosea V. Loibl in Paonia, Colorado.
Alice and her family lived for many years in North Platte, Nebraska.  After moving to Poplar Bluff, Alice worked for the Bank of Poplar Bluff before moving to Houston TX with her family. There she acquired an Associative Degree in History from San Jacinto College in Deer Park, TX. Later she worked for the IRS in Texas and Tennessee before retiring to Poplar Bluff.  Alice was an avid reader and was very talkative. She enjoyed spending time with her best friend Elizabeth Frey. Her favorite pets were her magpie, Maximillian, and dogs, Idgit, and Buddy.
Alice is survived by niece Cheryl Landis Gerber of Houston, Texas; along with numerous relatives in the Calkins, Hiatt and Loibl families of Nebraska, Arizona, and Texas.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Violet Mae Landis; brother, Roy Walter Calkins; nieces, April M. Hagar and Diana L. Landis

Graveside inurnment will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2023, at 1:00pm at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Reverend Keith Luke will be officiating.
