Agnes Elizabeth Catherine Stenger Fluech, 87, of Poplar Bluff died Monday, March 17, 2008 at her residence.
Mrs. Fluech was born Sept. 27, 1920, in Glennonville, Mo. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and was a homemaker. Mrs. Fluech was very compassionate and caring and enjoyed helping people. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and cooking for them. Mrs. Fluech also enjoyed making arts and crafts and playing the organ which she did for over 40 years.
On Feb. 25, 1941, she married Joseph Bernard Francesco Fluech. He preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 2004.
Survivors include her daughter, Sister Clara Ann Fluech, O.P., of Great Bend, Kans.; four sons, Joseph William Fluech and wife Becky, of Atlanta, Ga., John Bernard Fluech, James Lester Fluech and Edward Charles Fluech, all of Poplar Bluff; 11 grandchildren, Joseph Fluech, David Fluech, Stacy Fluech-Warren, Bryan Flueck, Nichole Holohan, Michael Fluech, Pamela Jane Lindner, Charity Fluech, Edward Coty Fluech, Holly Fluech and Curtis Fluech; 13 great-grandchildren; 11 sisters, Sister Ann Miriam Stenger, F.S.M., Margaret Mary Stenger, Sister Mary Antoinette Stenger, F.S.M., Sister Jovita Marie Stenger, F.S.M., Sister Mariella Stenger, F.S.M., Patricia Jeanette Stenger, Rose Catherine Murphy and husband Tom, and Gertrude Schrader, all of St. Louis, Clementine Catherine Lampe and husband Tony, of Black, Mo. and Clara Christine Herzog and husband Gene, of DeSoto, Mo.; two brothers, Father Joseph Henry Stenger, of Brooklyn Center, Mich. and Edward Paul Stenger and wife Karen, of St. Louis; and two sisters-in-law, Frances Stenger, of Boonville, Mo. and Bernice Stenger, of DeSoto.
Her parents, Joseph Casper and Elsie Veronica (Meyer) Stenger, sister, Arlene Francis Stenger, brothers, Ferdinand Stenger and Wilfred Charles Stenger, grandparents, John and Mary (Mackenberg) Stenger and Joseph and Emma (Roethlie) Meyer, and brother-in-law, Oscar Schrader also preceded her in death.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at the Church with Father David Coon and Father Joseph Henry Stenger officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, in Poplar Bluff.
